Thank you for inviting me to your blog with my new Hot Ink Press release,

smallLove

The first thing people ask me concerning this release is about the title. They say ‘is that a typo, shouldn’t it be Love at First Sight?’ No, it’s not a typo :-). This book is a duo of red-hot contemporary romance stories, Pina Colada and Handy Hubby Hire. The stories feature a love at first sight thread, but initially it’s huge physical attraction to each other when the couples meet. They sigh with lust and then the romance develops.

Sounds like two very nice reads, can you tell us more?
I can do better, here’s the blurb for Handy Hubby Hire.
Tired of the maintenance jobs mounting up in her house, Sara hires a handyman. She never dreams someone like Griffen Fox will show up to fix the faucets and back yard gate. Sparks fly, but will they lose their heart to each other?

And for Pina Colada
When Emma takes a long weekend vacation in a warm beach resort, she meets the very handsome Matt Tyler. They spend an idyllic few days together. Will this only be a holiday romance?

Now, that made me really curious. All those like me click here to be zoomed off to the Adult content blog to read the steaming hot excerpts.

I wanted my male characters in the two stories to be very different personalities and yet still similarly alpha enough to go for the girl they wanted sexually right away.
Matt Tyler in Pina Colada is fun and almost dares the heroine, Emma, to engage in lust driven sex. He also gives her romantically exactly what she needs on her holiday break in the sun. Picture the white sandy beaches, the pale green almost transparent ocean, frangipani perfumed, warm night air and a drop-dead gorgeous man, who wants you …bad.
Griffen Fox in Handy Hubby Hire is visually a bad boy, muscled with a swirling, black tattoo and an old truck. He’s capable and calm, but underneath the professional exterior simmers … sex … lust and red-hot desire for the heroine, Sara, as soon as he sees her.
He tells her what he’s going to do. He gives her what she’s longing for and then …something happens to him … something unexpected.

As the writer I like Matt very much, but Griffen, well, he’s an absolute darling.
smallLove I designed and produced the book cover using Handy Hubby Hire as the inspiration. It took some time tracing the stock photography of the truck and had other people in it, which I edited out and then I found my couple. I love this premise, with the sexy guy holding his lover up against him and nuzzling her neck. I hope it gives a feel for the originality of the stories, their heroes and heroines that could be you and the sexually charged atmosphere of hot summer encounters.

As Lucy mentioned to read an excerpt of each story you’ll have to click here now to be transported to Lucy’s Adult Corner.

September Again by Hunter S. Jones

Sept Again Lg

***

Once again this author manages to capture and hold my attention the full 97 pages with a story of love, despair, hope, and joy.

In this second September story we continue to follow the life of Liz and her daughter after the death of the great poet Jack O. Savage. Things aren’t easy and the author has managed to bring all the struggles alive in a way that makes the reader root for the characters. The fine details show that the author has either done her research really well of writes what she knows from experience. Either way, it makes for a book with real living characters and scenes.

Her dialogues are never once contrived or stilted and each character speaks how you would expect a person from that age, gender, or social group would.

There is enough detail to the scenes to make them more than just a stage for the characters to play on, but never so much that it drowns out the story. A perfect balance between setting a scene and telling the story from within the character’s point of view.

The only downside to this great story is that I read it way too fast, or it was too short. On the other hand, it was complete. Had the author written more detail in it, or added scenes to make it longer that would probably have ruined what is now a perfect story.

Would I recommend this book? The answer to that is a big, fat YES! And I cannot wait to read the prequel to this all.

Featured Author – Merry Farmer

Merry Farmer HeadshotHi Merry, thanks for taking the time to answer a few of my questions.

I’m curious. If you had to choose, history or future, what would it be and why?

Ooo, tough call! There’s something so exciting about the future, about all of the possibilities of what could happen with our civilization and where things might be going. I know I’d love to be on an early interplanetary colonization mission, for example, whenever humanity gets around to exploring again. But in the end I think I’m going to have to say history. There is as much to explore in the way things used to be as there is in the unknown future. Plus, you have to admit, the clothes were excellent! Although I’m not so sure about the layers and layers of Victorian underwear women had to wear.

Knowing this, I wonder if us modern women would still think the clothes were that great if we had to haul all those layers around every day. 🙂

But to skip to a different matter, is there any food or beverage that is a constant factor in either your books or life? And how does that tie in with the choice you made in the previous question?

Call me crazy, but I’m actually a huge fan of British food! Most people think it’s bland and boring, but give me a good, filling pasty or a really excellent shepherd’s pie any day! And there’s nothing quite like British high tea. I actually order special British tea online to drink in the mornings.

I think I would love to go back in time to just about anywhere in England in the 18th or 19th century to have high tea. It would be wonderful, just for a day, to dress to the nines in fine silks and a corset, with a lady’s maid to style my hair, and then to go visit the fine ladies of Mayfair to sip freshly imported tea and eat expertly prepared petit fours. … Okay, that sounds a lot more posh than I really am. I’d be just as content to sit and eat meat pies with the working class while asking them all about the realities of their lives. It’s amazing how the food people eat and the way they eat it tells you so much about people’s characters.

What is your favourite dish and can you give me the recipe?

Since I generally don’t have the time to make things like pasties and shepherd’s pie for myself (and boy do I wish I did!), my favorite dish that I eat several times a week is broiled salmon with pesto. I confess, I use store-bought pesto, but I learned a trick about cooking salmon from the chef at my day job for getting restaurant-quality results that I’d like to share with you.

grilled-salmon-pesto[2][1]_0The trick to cooking salmon is to broil it. It’s simple, easy, and leaves the fish tender and not overcooked or dry. I cook in a toaster oven because I’m usually just cooking for one. Make sure that the broiler is up to full heat. Starting with the salmon skin side up (although I usually have the skin removed), broil on one side for roughly 4 minutes. Then turn it over and broil right side up for 4 minutes. Voila! It’s as simple as that! When the middle is just a teensy bit pink, I take it out and slather it with pesto. It’s the most delicious thing ever, and depending on what sides I’m making, I can have a healthy, delicious dinner ready in 15 minutes or less.

What is the title of the book you would like to talk about, and can you give us a small taster of it?

I love talking about the third full-length novel in my Montana Romance series, In Your Arms.

In Your Arms [e-book draft b]

AMAZON | SMASHWORDS | B&N | iTUNES

goodreads-badge-add-plusAll of the books in this series can stand alone, but I particularly love this one because I’ve gone with an unconventional heroine. Let me share the back cover blurb with you, because it says it all….

Lily Singer has never belonged. Taken from her tribe as a child and raised in a white man’s school, she no longer has a place in either world. Teaching has become her life. When that life is threatened by rumors and prejudice after a string of robberies, she must turn for help to the one man who spells disaster for her carefully ordered existence. Will he save her or steal her heart?

Christian Avery, Justice of the Peace, is used to having things his way. Cold Springs is his responsibility, and when its citizens blame the local Indian population for the mysterious robberies, it’s up to him to restore order and maintain calm. The one person who refuses to follow his lead is the beautiful, native-born Lily. Her defiance turns his life upside down and ravages his heart.

But when town gossip shifts from robberies to romance after a foolish indiscretion, Lily’s job and reputation are on the line. She must choose between the only life she has ever known and the only place she has ever felt at home, in Christian’s arms.

One thing I really enjoyed about writing this book was taking conventional western characters—the schoolmarm and the justice of the peace—and giving them a whole new spin. It’s so much fun to start with the known and take it off into new territory.

Did you have difficulty coming up with the title?

For this one, I kind of did. I either know the title before I’ve even written the book (like with The Indomitable Eve) or I struggled and struggle for weeks to come up with something that works. I do a lot of playing with words and song lyrics and things to find titles while I’m driving around. Driving is a great way to knock your brain into dear!

And finally, can you tell me something no one has ever heard before from you?

Hmmm…. That’s easier said than done, because I tend to blab just about everything that comes to my mind! I learned a long time ago that there’s no point in keeping things to yourself or in keeping secrets. But I suppose I could confess that the sleepier I get, the more I talk and the less I actually pay attention to what I’m saying.

Hahaha, I seem to ‘suffer’ from the same affliction. So, I guess we’re both just very chatty persons. Nothing wrong with that I would say. 🙂

Thank you for being here Merry and good luck with the book, the entire series I should say.  Let me just finish with telling the readers that they can stalk, erm I mean follow, yes follow you online at her websiteFacebook, on Twitter as @MerryFarmer20, and on her Amazon Author Page.

Beyond Nostalgia
Many readers have said that Beyond Nostalgia is a story that kept reappearing in their minds long after they read it. A multi-category Amazon Bestseller, it is book that will make you laugh and make you cry. It will break your heart and then it will heal it again. You’ll love the main character, and you will hate him as well.

“Dean Cassidy looks back on a life filled with hardship and remembers Theresa Wayman, the bright spark that lit up his world when he was eighteen. As an adult, many years later, Cassidy continues his struggle to be successful in life, but can’t move past his betrayal and loss of Theresa.

Beyond Nostalgia is a poignant story about growing up, making choices, betrayal, forgiveness and moving on. Cassidy and Theresa find inspiration, joy and acceptance together in their world of dysfunctional families and economic hardships. But one night Cassidy, in a drunken stupor, makes a terrible choice that costs him his relationship with Theresa. Twenty-five years later, with the encouragement of his devoted wife, Cassidy focuses his sadness and angst into writing a book – a book that will eventually lead him to another crossroad in his life and redemption from his suffering.

Within A Man’s Heart

Four years after burying his young wife, New York sales executive Christian Crews still can’t move forward with his life. Day after day, treasured memories of his beloved Elyse continue to drift through his spirit like an endless procession of mournful ghosts.

Chris wants to leave Manhattan—walk away from his job and the apartment he and Elyse once shared. He dreams of moving to New Hampshire, where he feels he just might have a chance of finding peace. But in his grieving mind, breaking away from those memories would be the same as abandoning Elyse—an unforgivable act of betrayal he could never live with.

Then, on the fourth anniversary of Elyse’s death, Chris makes two shocking discoveries, and a part of him begins to believe that she would want him to go on with his life.

Two weeks later he makes the move to New Hampshire, and minutes after arriving in the small rural village of Mountain Step, he meets a beautiful local woman with mesmerizing gray eyes and a heart as big as the surrounding mountains. Beginning another emotional relationship may be the last thing on Chris’s mind, but he soon finds himself falling for Gina Elkin, every bit as hard as she’s fallen for him.

Could there be a future for them? Will Elyse allow it? After all, she’s still deep within Chris’s heart—a place no one else has ever been.

A Second Chance in Paradise
Long Island salesman Sonny Raines has had it. He’s sick and tired of living in a world where wrong always wins over right. Then, on his thirty-ninth birthday, when he loses his job and comes home to the most devastating shock of his life, that’s it. He’s dropping out.

With nothing left to lose, and little in his pocket, Sonny chucks it all and drives his aging van fifteen-hundred miles to the lower reaches of the Florida Keys. All he wants is to get over his recent losses and simplify his hectic life, and that’s exactly what he thinks he’s doing when he settles on a paradisiacal speck of an island known as Wrecker’s Key. While surrounded by the warm aquamarine waters of two tropical oceans, he not only falls in love with the key but also establishes a close bond with the free-spirited locals who call it home.

But all isn’t blue skies, swaying palms, and coconut oil on Wrecker’s Key. There’s trouble wafting in the warm breezes that caress the island. Although Sonny certainly isn’t looking for romance, he finds himself falling for his next door neighbor. Ex-model Julie Albright just may be the kindest, most beautiful woman to ever grace his eyes, but there’s a snag. She has a small physical flaw that, no matter how hard he tries, Sonny can’t overlook. And his feelings are no secret to Julie. She can read them, and they weigh as heavy on her heart as they do on his. Then things get even worse. One night, under the cover of darkness, danger drifts up the deep, silent currents from the lower keys—serious danger—life and death danger. And Sonny Raines finds himself right in the middle of it

I must admit I’m a big fan, but as you might know, I’m not easily impressed, so when I say this author knows how to spin a yarn and deliver a punch, there’s a big chance I’m not talking rubbish. 🙂
But let me introduce Mr. Winton to you by letting him do the talking. I asked him to give me some really fast answers to a few questions that I think show us more about the man behind the author.
Tom 004Hi Tom, thanks for taking the time to do this Fast Ten with me. Hold on to your seat because here we go.

Sweet or savoury? – I’ll run with savory/savoury for right now, Lucy. Love the aroma of something tasty cooking on the stove.

Coffee, tea, or anything else? – Just had two cups of Joe, so I’ll take a decaf this time around. I’m wired enough.

Dark or milk chocolate? – Either is terrif, but I’ve been known to walk a mile for dark chocolate.

Favourite dish? – That’s a tough. The best I can do is narrow it down to either seafood or Italian.

Mountains or sea? – For many years I’ve lived near the sea and spent literally tens of thousands of hours fishing either out on the sea in a boat or along its shores. Now I’ll take the mountains. I lived in a rural setting near Maine’s North Woods for five years and still dream of going back. I’m also considering moving to the Great Smoky Mountains in either North Georgia or North Carolina.

Staying or moving? – As soon as I can swing the cost I’m going to move out of Florida and go to one of those places I just mentioned in the previous question.

Organised or go with the flow? – I’m definitely a flow-goer!

Morning or evening? – Morning for sure. Far and away the best time of each day is just moments before a morning sun rises–when that rose-colored glow of new hope appears on the eastern horizon.

Complain or act? – I’m one heck of a good complainer, but when it’s time to act I can really kick it in gear too. The hard part is to get me moving. At the only parents/teacher meeting my mother and father ever bothered to go to, my second grade teacher told them that, “Tommy can do anything, BUT he has to be pushed.” It’s too bad I never liked to be pushed. Ha!

Fight or flight? – Lucy, although I could write an entire trilogy about all the fights I’ve had in my life, I’m at the point now where I let a lot of negative events slide by. But if I get cornered, I’m gonna come back swingin’ — hard and fast. I have absolutely no room for blatant injustice or instigation. Thanks heaps for having me on your great site, Luce!

You, and your books are more than welcome anytime! Well, readers, didn’t I tell you his answers would reveal more of the man behind the author? But now you want to know where to find and follow him online, I guess? Let’s not keep you waiting then, You can stalk, erm I mean follow, yes follow, Tom Winton on:
